An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NWSSP Finance Team in the role of Senior Finance Officer. Based in Nantgarw HQ with flexible working, the role will provide a wide range of experience in financial management across NWSSP.
The role requires a hard‑working, committed individual with financial experience and a good eye for detail who works well as part of a team and can meet strict deadlines. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job- Raise invoices for NWSSP and liaise with external and other NHS agencies. Maintain associated records for invoicing and income due.
- Action journals on a timely basis in accordance with agreed procedures, for example recharging staff and expenditure to the correct cost centres.
- Accurately and regularly perform delegated monthly closedown processes and proactively undertake required adjustments to income, expenditure and budgets within the financial ledger.
- Produce and maintain financial trend information, involving the presentation of financial data.
- Maintain accurate records of monthly resource usage, presenting the data in a number of ways using graphs and pivot tables to meet users’ requirements.
- Develop knowledge of, and skills to interrogate, a range of systems such as Oracle/Qlikview to action financial coding changes, identify errors and resolve.
- Provide information to managers and other work colleagues as required, responding to various routine and ad hoc queries from customers/staff.
- Follow and apply financial procedures with minimum direct supervision, using initiative and taking advice when required.
- Participate in the production of draft costed establishments and budget proposals.
- Undertake ad hoc costing, forecasting and variance analysis to support the Financial Management team as required.

Person SpecificationQualifications- AAT Technician or NVQ Level 4, Degree or Equivalent Experience
- At least three A‑levels (Grades A‑C) or equivalent
- Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
- Knowledge of financial aspects of NHS legislation and NHS finance policies
- Analytical, interpretation and comparison skills
- IT literate with practical computer application skills covering Microsoft products including advanced level of Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to work autonomously or as a member of a team
- Ability to work on a number of tasks simultaneously and produce high quality work within tight deadlines
- Good and well developed presentation, negotiation and facilitation skills
- Good and well developed organisational, judgement and analytical skills
- Able to operate effectively in a changing environment
- Sound judgement and decision making involving complex facts of situations
- Demonstrate a high degree of motivation
- Enthusiastic and persuasive
Welsh language skills are desirable.
