South Wales Area – Cardiff, Bridgend, Newport. This is a Bank position (not permanent) with no guaranteed hours. The role offers experience, flexibility and a variety of different roles and positions. The organisation is NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) providing Clinical Logistics Transport Services across Health Boards in Wales via its Health Courier Service.

Service area and duties: North Wales Area – Wrexham, Denbigh; Mid Wales Area – Powys, Machynlleth; South Wales Area – Cardiff, Bridgend, Newport; West Wales Area – Swansea, Carmarthen. The service sorts, delivers and collects mail/medical notes and transports blood products and pathology samples in accordance with regulatory and quality standards. Core service operates 8am–6pm Monday to Friday; some services operate 24 hours a day.
Main duties: NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership provides Clinical Logistics Transport Service across all Health Boards in Wales via its Health Courier Service, and is seeking a HGV Driver to join this service based in the South Wales area, serving all Wales. On average, the service handles over 120,000 items of mail/medical notes per week and transports over 5 million movements of samples annually. This role requires an HGV Cat C licence and CPC. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are welcome to apply.

- Essential criteria: Full Driving Licence, Moving and Handling techniques, and general awareness of risk, health and safety issues and responsibilities.
- Desirable criteria: Good interpersonal skills, able to establish productive working relationships with colleagues, external contacts, patients and members of the public.

- Essential criteria: Driving a range of vans/light commercial vehicles, Dealing with customers and liaison with internal and external NHS contacts, patients and public.
