Job Overview

An exciting opportunity for a motivated and professional administrator to support work aligned to the new Resident Doctor Contract in Wales.

The Administrator will work closely with the Lead Guardian of Safe and Flexible Working and Guardians across NHS Wales, receiving, monitoring and supporting the reporting of information relating to resident doctors’ rotas and exception reporting.

The role requires monitoring data, identifying emerging trends and patterns, and supporting effective reporting arrangements.

Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.

  • Principal Duties
  • Provide professional, efficient and effective administrative support to the Lead Guardian of Safe and Flexible Working.
  • Collate and disseminate information to Health Boards to support compliance with the Resident Doctors’ terms and conditions.
  • Undertake analysis of exception reporting data received from Health Boards to identify trends, patterns and areas requiring further consideration.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including resident doctors, educational supervisors, service managers and rota coordinators.
  • Coordinate meetings in support of the Lead Guardian of Safe and Flexible Working’s responsibilities.

Person Specification

  • Knowledge (Essential)
  • Minimum GCSE grade A‑C or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • NVQ III in Administration.
  • Knowledge (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of medical rotas.
  • Welsh language skills.

Experience (Essential)

  • Previous experience in an office setting.

Skills and Aptitudes (Essential)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to develop good interpersonal working relationships.
  • Ability to manipulate data and produce spreadsheets and reports, data entry and excellent keyboard skills.
