We are looking for an Operations Trainee to join our growing Transport and Operations team at our Newcastle Depot. You will serve as a key point of contact for our Waste Services customers, therefore your passion for delivering excellent customer service is essential. Alongside this, you will support the coordination and development of a team of drivers, helping to ensure our day-to-day logistics operation runs efficiently and safely. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will be working in a fast-paced environment where strong organisation, communication and decision-making skills are key to success.

Job Activities:

  • Welcome and support customers across multiple communication platforms including telephone, email, live chat and face to face
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with customers and deliver excellent service at all times
  • Proactively manage high volumes of calls, emails and orders with accuracy and efficiency
  • Accurately create, record and schedule orders/services using bespoke IT systems
  • Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, ensuring a positive outcome
  • Support the daily coordination and planning of drivers across skips, hook and trade waste services
  • Promote the company’s services and support business growth
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, tachograph and driver hours regulations
  • Assist with driver performance, engagement and development
  • Support driver administration including holidays, sickness and wage queries
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments including accounts and wider operations
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and promote company values

  • Excellent communication skills with a confident and professional manner
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy environment
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft systems and accurate data input
