The Role
We are excited to introduce our Trainee HGV Driver Programme at The NWH Group. This is a unique opportunity to join our business without an HGV licence, and join the venture alongside our partner Capital4training. We will fully fund your training with the support of our partner Capital4training, who support you every step of the way into a long-term driving career. As a Trainee HGV Driver, you will start your journey from day one, working towards gaining your HGV licence through a structured and supported process.
Your Journey
- Attend an interview and selection process
- Join NWH and Capital4training joint venture
- Complete your medical and theory tests
- Once you have passed your theory test and your practical test is booked, you will begin your trainee journey on a full-time basis.
- You will start learning to drive HGVs leading to you successfully passing your HGV driving practical exam.
- Complete our 5-week Newly Qualified Driver Training Programme
- Progress to driving solo on the road
What You’ll Be Doing
- Working towards gaining your HGV licence (fully funded)
- Learning safe and professional driving practices
- Supporting depot operations once you begin working on site
- Completing structured training with experienced mentors
- Building the skills required to become a professional HGV Driver
What We’re Looking For
- Must be aged 21 or over (insurance requirement)
- Car Licence
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Commitment to building a career in driving
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Strong focus on safety
- Preferably experience with driving vans/construction but not essential
- Must be based in Edinburgh
- No previous HGV experience is required – we will support you through the full process.
