We have an exciting opportunity to join our Wastewater Directorate as a Data & GIS Analyst, supporting the development of our long-term Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP).

This role is about turning data into insight. You’ll lead the development and management of spatial datasets and digital tools that help us understand how our drainage systems are performing, where future risks may arise, and how we can plan for a more resilient future.

You’ll work with data from environmental and infrastructure datasets to growth forecasts and flood risk information, bringing it together into clear, visual outputs that support decision-making across the business and with external partners.

Whether it’s building interactive maps, developing automated data pipelines, or presenting spatial evidence at workshops, your work will help shape how we plan for climate adaptation, environmental protection, and community resilience.

About You

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about using data and spatial analysis to solve real-world challenges.

You’ll have strong experience with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, or QGIS, and be confident managing complex datasets from multiple sources. You’ll understand how to build, maintain and share spatial data, and how to use mapping and analysis to support strategic planning within the company and in collaboration with external stakeholders.

You’ll Also Bring:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience developing visual tools like dashboards, StoryMaps, or interactive maps
  • Familiarity with tools like FME, Python, or SQL for data transformation and automation
  • A collaborative mindset, with experience working across teams and with external stakeholders
  • You may have worked in infrastructure, environmental planning, urban development, or another sector where spatial data plays a key role in decision-making.

If you’re ready to apply your skills to help deliver long-term environmental outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.

First stage interview will take place online on 17 October. If successful at first stage you will be invited to attend an interview at our office in Durham on 27 October.
