About The Role

We are looking for a Company Secretarial Assistant to join us here at Northumbrian Water Limited, to play a vital role within the Legal Affairs & Secretariat team in the Northumbrian Water Group (NWG or the Group).

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual (ideally gained with a large private company or group of companies), and with enthusiasm for company law and corporate governance, to join a large and busy team based in the North East of England.

Reporting to the Deputy Company Secretary, and working alongside the Company Secretary and another Company Secretarial Assistant, you will support the smooth operation of the corporate governance and corporate compliance functions of the Group, and help deliver high quality board and shareholder support.

Your day to day role will include maintaining statutory registers and records, making statutory and regulatory filings and announcements and supporting with the Group’s annual and interim accounts process. You will also assist with CDD/KYC requests, help maintain the Group’s legal structure documentation, deal with shareholder and debenture enquiries and records, and provide updates on legal and regulatory changes. Your will also have responsibility for maintaining internal databases using systems such as SharePoint and Diligent.

In addition to your core secretarial responsibilities, you may be asked to support with other corporate, treasury and legal matters and projects from time to time and you will therefore have a varied workload.

You may be asked from time to time to provide administrative support to the wider legal team, including managing legal deeds, arranging meetings, and maintaining internal systems.

About You

We are looking for an organised and conscientious individual with experience working in a busy Company Secretariat environment, ideally with a large private group of companies.

Whilst no formal secretariat or governance qualifications are required, this role would benefit someone who already has or is working towards, or would like to work towards, a CGI or other similar corporate governance qualification.

You will bring a sound understanding of company law, corporate governance and processes, and regulatory requirements, particularly those relating to Companies House and the London Stock Exchange.

Your attention to detail and methodical approach will enable you to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines with accuracy and professionalism.

We are looking for someone who is confident using a range of IT systems, including Microsoft Office, Diligent, Adobe, and document management platforms (e.g Sharepoint).

You are a strong communicator, both written and verbal and are comfortable liaising with senior stakeholders and external partners.

You will have a flexible and team-oriented mindset which will allow you to adapt to changing priorities and support colleagues across the Legal and Secretariat team,
