Transport Coordinator – Wardle, Nantwich, CW5 6RS

Boughey Distribution is currently recruiting a full-time Transport Coordinator for our Transport team. The role involves controlling the efficient deployment and routing of delivery vehicles around the UK, including route planning, resource allocation, and administration of delivery metrics on a daily basis. You will help deliver first-class customer service through KPIs that maximize vehicle, equipment, and manpower utilization within budget while maintaining service standards.

Working days: 4 on 4 off, 6am – 6pm

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leverage geographical knowledge to optimize fleet efficiency.
  2. Manage driver workloads to ensure smooth operations.
  3. Maintain communication with drivers and depot staff.
  4. Ensure timely deliveries through tracking software and updates.
  5. Address driver queries via phone or in person.
  6. Report tracker errors to the Transport Planning Manager.
  7. Keep drivers informed of road conditions and challenges.
  8. Coordinate vehicle and trailer maintenance schedules with the Operations Department.
  9. Exchange crucial delivery information with the Transport Planning Manager and Delivery Service Team, including ETAs.
  10. Ensure all drivers are contacted within the first 4 hours of their shift.
  11. Ensure vehicles are staffed with appropriate driver resources based on operational needs.
  12. Complete and distribute daily handovers per KPIs set by your supervisor.
  13. Develop weekly resource plans for drivers, vehicles, and equipment.
  14. Administer customer requirements timely and in accordance with contractual obligations.
  15. Prioritize customer service while maintaining profitability.
  16. Identify opportunities to reduce empty running and improve network efficiency.
  17. Review and adapt delivery schedules to meet service and revenue targets.
  18. Support and promote the company\’s mission, vision, and values.
  19. Maintain high standards in customer requirements, compliance, and audits.
  20. Adhere to Health & Safety policies, ensuring safety and welfare.
  21. Perform other duties as reasonably requested.

Candidate Requirements

  1. Experience as a Transport Planner/Coordinator in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  2. Ability to monitor and manage drivers effectively.
  3. Understanding of transport operating systems and tachograph regulations.
  4. Organized, methodical, and able to prioritize tasks independently.
  5. Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  6. Ability to work independently, plan, and meet deadlines.
  7. High energy, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
  8. Knowledge of TMS systems and Microsoft Office.
  9. Understanding of WTD and EU Drivers Hours regulations.
  10. Desirable: CPC International Qualification.
