Role: Responsibility for the development, procurement and project management of projects from concept to implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of individual projects from development through to production and installation in line with the agreed Project Management process map.
- Act as a technical reference point for the Sales Team, inputting in project direction regarding materials, processes, project timings and costs to meet customer requirements and the company's commercial objectives.
- Provision of progress reports for all live prototype and production projects at weekly status meetings.
- Creation of sales quotes, production orders, BOMs and Routings on the company’s NAV system, ensuring adherence to agreed processes and maintaining or improving estimated gross profit margins.
- Placing purchase orders for all materials and components, including selection of suppliers and contractors from the company’s approved list.
- Progressing supplier purchase orders and liaising with goods inwards/production to ensure items are ready for production.
- Liaison with the Prototype Department for manufacture of prototypes, assembly of first off production units, production tools and assembly jigs.
- Daily monitoring of production projects via close liaison with the Production Team, including troubleshooting on technical issues.
- Face-to-face client interactions when required.
- Liaison with the Quality Manager to set up project-specific quality standards and control points.
- Liaison with the Logistics Department to ensure goods are adequately packed and distributed, participating in stock takes if required.
- Collation and handover to the Health & Safety Director of all relevant Health & Safety information such as CDM risk assessments, method statements, P.A.T test certificates and C.E Test certificates.
- Closing down completed projects by ensuring all purchase orders are correctly consumed and drawings and estimates are corrected to the actual method of manufacture or a more suitable solution.
- Be fully conversant with all Health and Safety and Quality Assurance procedures, implementing and complying with them, and reporting any non-conformance through the agreed procedure.
Requirements:
- Must have in-house manufacturing experience, crucial for the applicant to be aware of key commodities (wood, metal, plastic, etc.) and understand processing them.
- Effective and clear communication skills, both verbal and written, allowing expectations to be set with team members in an understandable way.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills that reflect the input of others in the operations process.
- Exceptional organisational skills to plan objectives and tasks, enabling team members to perform to the best of their ability.
- Ensure systems are in place that maintain order and guide team members toward meeting company goals and objectives.
