Pay: £45,000 - £50,000 average take home salary (PAYE). Expenses on this role are paid weekly, salary is paid monthly. Any hours worked on a 6th day (standard 5 out of 7 day working pattern) are paid at overtime on 1.5x the hourly rate equivalent.

NW Recruitment Services Ltd are looking for enthusiastic and committed HGV Class 1 Drivers on behalf of our client. - 28 days holiday per year (note: no approvals in peak, Aug 26 - Oct 26).

Hours & working pattern:
- Hours worked before 4am or after 8pm are paid at x 1.5 overtime.
- Average 45 driving hours per week in line with assimilated rules.
- Standard 5-day tramping pattern (2 weeks long shifts / 2 weeks short shifts).
- Some waiting at customer sites (overnight stays required).
- Drivers are paid from the moment they clock on, to the moment they clock off.
- You are paid for nights / overnight stays.
- Week 1 = long week, Week 2 = short week.
- Never any unpaid driving time.
Vehicles & equipment:
- Allocated lorry (tracked) for your own use.
- Vehicles fitted with fridges and microwaves.
- 3 fuel cards provided per HGV (filled on last day, as close to site as possible).
- Secure access to customer sites via fob, electric gate, or mobile app (depending on site).
- 24/7 mechanic and breakdown support, including national helpline for blow-outs and tow-home cover.
- Ability to stay at preferred or driver-known stops, or those suggested by company.
Key responsibilities:
- Working 5 days out of 7 with optional overtime.
- Shifts will include weekends and / or nights out (tramping required).
- Completing collections and deliveries from suppliers and customers, including bulk, boxes, and/or bags.
- Safely strapping loads (mainly wooden boxes).
- Adhering to all aspects of safety, hygiene, and site rules.
- Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, including vehicle defect reporting.
- Understanding and working within Driver’s Hours and WTD legislation.
- Maintaining your allocated vehicle/trailer, keeping it clean and tidy.
Requirements:
- Current valid C + E HGV Licence.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card and CPC Card.
- Minimum 2 years’ HGV driving experience with fewer than 6 penalty points.
- Forklift licence experience / current licence desirable.
- Experience with produce bulker, tautliner, or low loader desirable.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Flexible, reliable, and professional approach.
