About the role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established bespoke joinery manufacturer in Preston, producing high quality, purpose-made joinery and fitted furniture for commercial, leisure and retail projects across the UK. Due to ongoing workload in their workshop, they are looking for an experienced CNC Operator to work on a HOMAG wood CNC machine on a temporary basis, with the potential for work to be extended depending on business demand and individual performance.
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the CNC, working with timber and panel products to produce components to specification as part of a busy manufacturing team. Programming experience is not essential, as training can be provided for candidates with strong CNC operating experience in a wood / joinery environment.
- Operate a HOMAG CNC machine to produce timber and panel components in line with job sheets and drawings.
- Load materials, set up jigs and fixtures, run pre-set programs and monitor quality during the cutting process.
- Carry out basic machine checks and routine maintenance, reporting any issues to the Workshop Supervisor or Team Leader.
- Operating an edge bander, with the ability to set up and run edge banding machinery safely and accurately.
- Work closely with bench joiners and the wider workshop team to meet production deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area in line with company health and safety procedures.
About you
- Previous experience operating a CNC machine within a wood, joinery or furniture manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with HOMAG machinery or similar wood CNC equipment is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working from drawings, job sheets and instructions with strong attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work the stated day-shift hours Monday to Friday.
- Positive team player with a flexible attitude and willingness to learn additional skills, including CNC programming where required.
