Overview
Role: FLT Driver (Counterbalance) – Tarleton, Lancashire
Hours:
- Monday and Tuesday each week (7am – 6pm)
- Sunday\’s available from the 10th of September to top up weekly hours (allowing 31.5 hour weeks at £14.00 per hour – WEEKLY PAY)
- Additional shifts through the season for sickness and holiday cover
- Holiday pay accrual on all hours worked (on top of your paid hourly rate)
NW Recruitment are working with an established business who are seeking an experienced FLT Driver holding valid Counterbalance licences (RTITB or ITSAAR) to operate at their busy warehousing and distribution facility in Tarleton.
The position is suited to candidates with experience stacking double height pallets indoors and outdoors. This role includes paid breaks through the day: 20 minutes AM, 20 minutes PM, 15 minutes towards 5pm plus a 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
Key responsibilities
- Operate a counterbalance truck (RTITB or ITSAAR certified) safely and efficiently
- Handle loads of up to 3 tonne (double pallet stacked), lifting empty pallet / crates between 6.6 – 8.8m in height.
- Conduct both indoor and outdoor FLT operations, navigating safely around a high-traffic yard.
- Stack and retrieve pallets accurately and securely at height, adhering to safe stacking protocols.
- Perform routine FLT safety checks and maintenance inspections before each shift.
- Ensure working areas remain clean, hazard-free, and compliant with health & safety regulations.
- Coordinate effectively with warehouse and yard staff to maintain operational flow.
- Effectively communicate with management on any identified risks or issues.
- Picking & Sorting duties (grading machine) where work on FLT has been completed.
Essential requirements
- Valid and current Counterbalance FLT licence (RTITB or ITSAAR).
- Proven stack height experience: able to stack double pallets up to three layers high (6.6–8.8m reach).
- Comfortable lifting and manoeuvring loads of up to 3.0 tonnes.
- Strong awareness of health, safety and emergency procedures in busy environments.
- A professional attitude, reliability, and ability to work allocated days.
Desirable attributes
- Previous experience in handling and manoeuvring fragile items.
- JCB rough terrain Telehandler experience and certificate desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of HSE guidelines and standard warehouse / yard risk.
- Confident and effective communication with site teams and supervisors.
