The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 £ per year.
Our business provides a next day supply and distribution service through our nationwide network of distribution depots, serving an average of 2750 customers every day. The movement of goods between the DC and the depots, and to fulfil any general haulage requirements deemed necessary by the business, including back‑loading.
To conduct daily safety checks on the HGV vehicle allocated to them. This includes mechanical checks, fluid level checks, and load security systems as per DVSA guidelines. Check that the goods loaded onto the trailer are stowed safely and correctly. Any ancillary equipment fitted to ensure the safety and compliance of the load must be activated and working prior to leaving the Depot.
Travel to the destination Depot / Customer by the safest most direct route adhering to Drivers hours’ rules & regulations, The Highway Code and the weather conditions prevailing through the journey. At each delivery/collection point park the vehicle in such a manner as to allow safe and efficient unloading and reloading. Ensure any delays in journeys are communicated in the correct manner to the relevant Managers / Supervisors.
On return to the Depot, vehicles are to be refuelled with the relevant fuel. This includes any trailer power units (though this may not be a daily task). Screen wash levels to be kept topped up. Vehicles are to be parked in their designated parking bays unless otherwise advised, the load checked for security and the load restraining systems loosened to allow safe unloading. To report any defects on the vehicles to HGV Management team through the Defect reporting system.
To ensure they are in good health. Should the driver have any concerns over their driving availability (hours, rest breaks etc), then this is to be advised to the HGV Management team who will adjust the work pattern accordingly. To undertake periodic training as required by the Company.
Personal attributes:
- Class 1 C +E HGV driving licence, with a minimum 2 years HGV 1 driving experience
- HGV Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC)
- Flexible approach to work patterns
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Counter balance FLT licence preferable, though subject to training / refresher training during employment
