The predicted salary is between 27300 - 29600 £ per year.
At our national distribution centre, we stock over 16,000 (29,000 including specials) veterinary products including pharmaceuticals, instruments, pet products and accessories. The Warehouse Operative role is at the heart of what we at NVS do. The role involves unloading, unpacking and replenishing goods, in compliance with SOPs.
On our warehouse day shift there are various activities, including:
- Unloading HGVs
- Breaking deliveries down
- Picking and replenishment of stock
Dealing with a broad range of veterinary products including controlled drugs, items which must be kept between 2 and 8 degrees, bulk items, hazardous and cytotoxic products and other specialist items.
General tasks include:
- Unloading incoming stock from HGVs and LCV
- Breaking down stock into relevant unit of measure and area using a paper-based system
- Unloading HGVs returning from our Depots of totes, pallets, ranger cages, fridges, waste/recycling and returned stock
- Replenishing stock
- Stock put away
- Picking Bulk orders
- Inputting information onto the computer system to allow stock trackability
- Compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Some work at height (accessed via ladders/kick-steps), and below the knee
General requirements include:
- Required to take a flexible approach, supporting other teams as necessary
- Maintain good distribution practices, including a ‘clean as you go approach’
- Focused on H&S
- Basic IT work
- Regular manual handling of products, up to 16kg (up to 25kg in Bulk area)
- Operating LLOP, pump trucks, electric pump truck, HLOP, reach truck, counter balance and VNA
- A busy and physically demanding role
- A diverse and inclusive culture
- Requirement to work in fridge area on a rota basis
- Operatives are required to perform any other reasonable duties as the business requires
Personal attributes:
- Some experience of working in a warehouse environment would be advantageous but is not essential
- GCSE grades D-G or equivalent is desirable
- A good level of attention to detail
- The ability to work accurately under pressure
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- The ability to work with others
- Effective communication
- Act in a professional manner
- Hard-working, self-motivated and customer focused
