Duties
This privately owned property and leisure business has a number of sites throughout the UK and an ambitious management team with an appetite for growth. Following recent investment, they are now embarking on a phase of expansion which will involve making acquisitions to complement their current portfolio. A new vacancy has therefore been created for a CIMA/ACCA or ACA qualified accountant looking to join them as Group Financial Controller. Under the mentorship of a highly experienced part-time Finance Director, this will be a fantastic role involving full ownership of a finance function.
Key duties will be:
- Financial reporting and preparation of board reports for senior management
- Producing detailed management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
- Analysis and commentary on variances to site and group budget
- Sales reporting and commercial analysis
- Annual budgeting and financial planning / capex modelling
- Reporting on operational performance and profitability
- Close liaison with site management, providing financial support to drive improvements
- Development of controls and systems to support further growth
- Monitoring cashflow and supervising sales / purchase ledger assistants
- Overseeing the annual audit and statutory accounts production
This role would suit a high-caliber accountant with strong communication skills who can work on their own initiative and manage a variety of projects in addition to routine duties. The position has a lot of potential and you will be expected to show an appetite for progression within the business. The ideal candidate would have at least three years of experience in a management-level role, ideally with some knowledge of group accounting or experience of working at a manager level in accountancy practice. You should be a good communicator able to build relationships across the business, manage multiple month-ends, and learn quickly the nuances of each trading entity.
