We’re looking for people who put their innovation to work to advance our success – and their own. Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions.

The Field Application Engineer is the technical backbone of the sales process, responsible for ensuring the company’s HDLC and iPDU solutions are accurately selected, configured, and integrated for each customer. The role-holder works directly with customers’ technical teams to understand requirements and then provides product recommendations, customized configurations, and on-site support to ensure the solution’s fit.

In this role you will straddle both pre-sales and post-sales phases: from crafting initial designs and demos to supporting installation teams with technical guidance.

  • Requirements Analysis & Solution Specification:
    • Engage with customers (data center operators, facility engineers, IT architects) early in the sales cycle to gather detailed technical requirements for cooling and power.
    • Analyze factors like current rack densities, heat loads, facility water loop parameters, and redundancy needs.
    • Use these inputs to recommend appropriate solutions – for example, determining if a direct-to-chip cold plate system or a rear door heat exchanger is more suitable, and sizing the CDU capacity (kW) needed.
  • Product Selection & Configuration:
    • Translate requirements into specific product configurations and part numbers.
    • Assist customers in selecting the right models of coolant distribution units, rack manifolds, heat exchangers, and intelligent PDUs.
    • Configure these solutions using sizing tools and engineering calculations (for flow rates, coolant temperatures, electrical load balancing, etc.), ensuring the proposed configuration will meet performance targets under European operating conditions (e.g. considering higher ambient temperatures or local power standards).
  • Technical Proposal Support:
    • Prepare the technical content for proposals and bids. This includes creating system topology diagrams, writing descriptions of operation, and compiling equipment lists with all relevant accessories (pumps, sensors, controllers).
    • Ensure that all technical documentation clearly demonstrates compliance with the client’s specs and industry guidelines (ASHRAE TC 9.9 for liquid cooling, CE Mark directives, etc.).
    • Work closely with sales to integrate this content into a compelling offer.
  • Demonstrations, Testing & On-site:
    • Lead proof-of-concept deployments and pilot installations for customers who want to evaluate the technology. Set up demo units such as a rack with a rear-door cooler or a small liquid cooling loop to showcase performance.
    • Perform light on-site data collection – for instance, measuring inlet/outlet temperatures, humidity, and server exhaust temps – to establish baseline metrics.
    • During project execution, support the commissioning team by verifying technical settings (valve positions, firmware on iPDUs, sensor calibrations) and troubleshooting any performance issues that arise.
  • Technical Advisor & Feedback Loop:
    • Act as the go-to technical advisor for both the customer and internal sales throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Provide training or detailed explanations to customer’s thermal engineers and operations staff on how the HDLC system operates and should be maintained. Internally, relay any custom requirements or field issues back to the product engineering teams.
    • By maintaining this feedback loop, help drive product improvements and ensure the solutions provided remain robust and cutting-edge.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering (or similar field).
  • Ideally 3+ years as an application engineer, sales engineer, or similar role involving data center thermal management or power distribution.
  • Familiarity with liquid cooling technologies (cold plates, immersion, RDHx) and tools for thermal analysis (CFD knowledge a plus).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, proficiency in reading engineering drawings and specifications, excellent communication for explaining technical concepts to customers.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites across Europe (~30%).
  • You are an excellent communicator, both in written and verbal communication!

WE HAVE:

  • A dynamic global reach with diverse operations around the world that will stretch your abilities, provide plentiful career opportunities, and allow you to make an impact every day.
  • Commitment to strengthen communities where our employees live and work.
  • Core values that shape our culture and drive us to deliver the best for our employees and our customers.
  • Benefits to support the lives of our employees.
