Experience of managing local authority, public-sector, facilities management or multi-site security contracts would be highly advantageous.

The successful candidate will have

  • Experience managing manned guarding and keyholding/alarm response services.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • A checkable work history covering the previous five years.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills and the confidence to make decisions and take ownership.
  • Excellent communication skills, including a professional and confident telephone manner.
  • The ability to brief, delegate and manage teams effectively.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to act independently or collaboratively when required.
  • A professional appearance and presentation, as the role will be regularly client-facing.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including email, reporting, data entry and document production.
  • Experience using security management, scheduling or workforce-management systems would be advantageous.
  • A full manual driving licence, as regular travel between client sites will be required.

The Role

The Contracts Manager will be based in Derby and will work closely with the NVC Head of Operations and senior management team, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operational and contractual performance of the local authority account.

The role will involve regular attendance at client premises and other contracted locations, with travel between sites as required.

Working hours will be determined by the operational requirements of the contract.

Due to the nature of security operations, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a high level of flexibility and availability when operational issues, incidents or client requirements arise.

Key Responsibilities

The Contracts Manager will have overall responsibility for the effective delivery, management and continuous improvement of the contract, including:

Overseeing all security operations, including manned guarding, keyholding and alarm response, mobile response, incident management and out-of-hours support.

Managing operational performance, including staff deployment, shift fulfilment, security officer standards, training, briefing and team development.

Maintaining contract quality and compliance, ensuring services meet contractual requirements, client expectations, relevant legislation and NVC Security standards.

Contract & Client Management

You will act as the primary operational point of contact for the client, developing and maintaining a strong and professional working relationship with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include

  • Managing the day-to-day relationship between NVC Security and the client.
  • Regularly attending client premises and conducting meetings and site visits.

  • Leading contract review and performance meetings.
  • Identifying and implementing service improvements.
  • Responding promptly and professionally to client concerns, complaints and requests.
  • Acting as the escalation point for significant operational issues.
  • Maintaining strong communication with client stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ensuring the service consistently meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Security Operations & Workforce Management

A major part of the role will be ensuring that NVC Security maintains a robust, reliable and resilient security operation across the client's estate.

You will be responsible for

Reporting & Performance

The Contracts Manager will provide regular reporting to NVC senior management on the performance of the contract.

You will be expected to identify problems early, take ownership of issues and implement practical solutions rather than simply reporting problems.

What We Are Looking For

This role requires someone who is professional, commercially aware, operationally strong and confident dealing with clients and security personnel at all levels.

You will need to be able to move comfortably between strategic contract management and hands-off operational problem-solving.
