Our client is a well-established manufacturing engineering business based in Leicestershire with a range of products it delivers into multiple industry sectors. With a new manufacturing facility in the near future being developed, as well as a number of developments occurring at the current facility and due to retirement, we have the need to bring a dynamic and broadly experienced HSE Manager into the business that can ensure compliance and project delivery over the coming number of years.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain all aspects of safety management system to ensure continued full compliance with legislative requirements and improving safety performance.
  • Review and communicate policies, procedures, safe systems of work, risk assessments and follow up resultant actions.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, follow up corrective actions.
  • Auditing policies and procedures to identify shortcomings and implement improvements.
  • Manage and co-ordinate sub-contractors.
  • Electricity – manage fixed wiring inspections, PAT testing, HV maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with paint process permit requirements, act as key contact for local council in compliance audits.
  • Organise & manage annual / bi-annual emissions testing as required.
  • Manage fire safety – risk assessment, inspections, testing, evacuations, extinguisher maintenance.
  • First Aid – manage & maintain resources, identify & fulfil training requirements, audit.
  • Manage & maintain security and gatehouse instructions.
  • Deliver new employee inductions.
  • Manage lifting equipment and accessories registers, statutory inspections & corrective actions.
  • Manage pressure vessel and LEV statutory inspections.
  • Manage the Occupational Health programme and referrals.
  • Maintain and add Safe Lifting Practices for basic, standard and complex lifting operations.
  • Attend & contribute to Safety Committee meetings, provide stats, reports and compile minutes.
  • Identify training requirements, prepare and provide or organise & manage safety training as required.
  • Maintain authorised user lists for all machines.
  • Manage site safety inspections process & provide reports.
  • Co-ordinate and manage risk assessment & review program and ensure risk assessments are in place for all activities, equipment and substances as well as specific topics separately mandated. Follow up & close out identified actions.
  • Manage and update safety communication program, provide reports.
  • PPE - Specify, communicate, train, record issue, manage, control issue and monitor usage.
  • Safety signage – ensure safety signage is clear, up to date and compliant.
  • Manage HAVS and power tool specifications.
  • Arrange compliant disposal of hazardous waste, maintain waste producer records.
