Audit Services Manager | True 4-Day Working Week (Full Pay)

A senior audit opportunity offering genuine flexibility, autonomy and a clear route for career progression, including future Responsible Individual (RI) opportunities.

A growing UK accountancy group is looking for an experienced Audit Services Manager to help develop its people, client relationships and audit offering.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of audit but wants more than simply managing assignments. You’ll have the freedom to build trusted client relationships, develop a talented team and influence how audit services are delivered.

What You’ll Get

  • Salary of £55,000–£70,000, depending on experience.
  • A genuine four-day working week on full pay, supporting a better work‑life balance.
  • Hybrid working with flexibility across the office network.
  • Clear opportunities for career progression, including the potential to develop towards a future Responsible Individual (RI) role.
  • The autonomy to improve processes, develop people and shape the audit function.
  • A supportive, collaborative environment where your ideas are valued.

The Opportunity

You’ll take ownership of a varied portfolio of SME and owner‑managed business clients, managing audit engagements from planning and risk assessment through to completion.

Working closely with senior audit leadership, you’ll maintain high standards of audit quality, build strong client relationships and help the wider team deliver an efficient and responsive service.

For someone with longer‑term ambitions, there is also the opportunity to develop towards RI responsibilities as the audit function continues to grow.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage external audit engagements from planning through to completion.
  • Review audit plans, working papers, financial statements and key findings.
  • Monitor engagement quality, budgets, deadlines and resourcing.
  • Act as a trusted day‑to‑day contact for audit clients.
  • Coach, supervise and develop members of the audit team.
  • Resolve technical and delivery issues, escalating complex matters when appropriate.
  • Identify practical improvements to audit processes, systems and working practices.

What You’ll Bring

  • ACA or ACCA qualification.
  • Strong external audit experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice.
  • Experience managing audit engagements across multiple clients.
  • Sound knowledge of auditing standards, UK GAAP and professional ethics.
  • Confidence managing client relationships and communicating audit findings.
  • Experience coaching and developing junior colleagues.
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership and make improvements.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a growing accountancy group that combines ambitious plans with the personal relationships, flexibility and supportive culture that make people want to stay.

With a genuine four‑day working week, autonomy and future RI opportunities, you'll have the chance to progress your career without compromising on work‑life balance.
