Overview

In this role you support Health Physics operations by managing resources, supervising the team in the Health Physics environment, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You act as a key liaison with customers, oversee radiological surveying, and coordinate safety and emergency response. You also backfill as supervisor when needed and contribute to training. This position sits at the heart of delivering compliant, efficient Health Physics services on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Resource management: deployment, supervision and training of survey teams
  • Customer liaison: respond to and prioritise customer requests
  • Safety: ensure regulatory compliance and advise customers
  • Emergencies: initial radiological incident response
  • Surveying: conduct Health Physics surveys, record-keeping and training
  • Designating work: assign tasks to surveyors
  • Risk assessments: identify and document hazards
  • Stakeholder management: coordinate with internal and external stakeholders

Key requirements

  • Good working knowledge of Health Physics practice and local plants
  • Strong customer liaison skills (response, prioritisation, handling complaints)
  • Ensuring compliance with QA systems by local team
  • Clerical duties: write procedures, compile statistics/reports
  • Safety culture and emergency response capability
  • Sound basic education with good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good knowledge of site hazards and Health Physics regulations
  • Vocation training: City and Guilds Radiation Safety Practice Stages 1 and 2 or equivalent
  • Radiation Protection Supervisor course
