Project Description:

The Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) is being constructed on the SL site in Cumbria. The project is an integral part of the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo (MSSS) Program, addressing the clean-up of one of the most hazardous legacy facilities on the SL site. When complete, the BEP is expected to treat nuclear waste recovered from MSSS, immobilise it, and prepare it for long-term storage. In addition, the BEP may also process waste recovered during the decommissioning of other significant SL facilities, including the First General Magnox Storage Pond and the Pile Fuel Storage Pond.

Role Description:

The role requires Engineers that can write well to further develop and complete a series of O&M manuals for BEP. Reimbursable resources to provide technical author services on a time-based contract directed by SL/BEP JV. Commercially this would be a Type 1 or Main Option E of NEC3 PSC with SL being responsible for delivery as it is just provision of directed resource. The work will be based on site, working from SL accommodation (C1003 presumably). The work differs slightly from the standard technical author provision as:

  • The resources will play a more proactive part in the validation process.
  • Some input into the risk assessment process is anticipated.

Employee Staff Benefits:

  • 8.5% Pension Contribution & Life Assurance
  • Private Medical Scheme*
  • Employee Share Scheme
  • Salary Sacrifice Schemes: Electrical Vehicles, Technology and Cycle to Work
  • 18 Weeks Full Maternity Pay* (+21w SMP)
