As a Service and Installations Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of specialized equipment and machinery. This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure that equipment operates efficiently and safely. The role will require travel to customer sites across a set region (South, North and Scotland).
Key Accountabilities
- Installation: Install and set up new equipment and machinery at customer sites or within the organization's facilities; ensure installations adhere to safety and quality standards; calibrate and configure equipment to meet operational requirements.
- Maintenance and Service: Perform routine maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal performance; conduct regular inspections and diagnostics to identify and address potential issues; replace or repair faulty components, parts, or systems as needed.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and diagnose equipment malfunctions or technical problems; develop solutions and implement repairs to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of equipment installations, maintenance, and service activities; generate service reports and documentation for internal and external use.
- Customer Interaction: Interact with customers to understand their equipment needs and provide technical support; communicate installation procedures, maintenance schedules, and repairs; provide training and guidance to end-users or technicians on proper equipment operation and maintenance procedures; offer technical support and assistance to customers via phone, email, or on-site visits.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and guidelines; stay up-to-date with industry standards and certifications related to equipment operation and service.
Duties and Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, with a focus on electrical being preferred.
- Holds, or has the ability to achieve, a valid ECS Gold Card (Installation Electrician or Maintenance Electrician) or the ECS HERS (Highway Electrical Registration Scheme) Card.
- Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in equipment installation, maintenance, or repair is preferred.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment manuals.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
