Senior Structural Engineer Contract Description of the assignment Senior Civil Structural & Architectural Engineers make up the body of the engineering department and are responsible for carrying out the day-to-day developments of the design through the design process. The Senior Civil Structural & Architectural Engineer is fundamentally a hands-on analysis and design-based role within the C&S department that generally includes interfacing with other engineering disciplines in the project design team. The Senior Civil Structural & Architectural Engineer also has a shared managerial responsibility in respect of Graduates, Apprentices and/or Designers in the team as and when required to do so. To be considered for the Senior Civil Structural & Architectural Engineer position the applicant must be delivering functions above that of a Design Engineer Reports to Principal Engineer. Key Accountabilities Preparation of design documentation throughout the design process, such as technical specifications, risk assessments, method statements, technical files and other documentation required by safety legislation and procedure Preparation and review of optioneering studies Authoring and management of designs and to satisfy technical specifications including Basis of Design documentation, substantiation reports and hands-on design analysis Checking of bespoke design calculations Contribution to design reviews Prof ile Occupational Skills and Knowledge A recognised Engineering Certificate such as Degree / HNC / HND Duties and Requirements Essential Uphold the excellent safety culture at Nuvia Strong understanding of the fundamentals of structural engineering discipline, including safety legislation and statutory regulations Design experience in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel Experience and ability in the analysis of structural frames and members using proprietary software packages (e.g. STAAD, Autodesk ROBOT) Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position Ability to work to tight deadline A strong team player, with good organisational and interpersonal skills Desirable Nuclear experience or experience from within a highly regulated industry A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel with overnight stays overs occasionally Experience of supervi sion.
