Travel – Hybrid (2-3 days onsite)

The Senior Decommissioning Manager is accountable to the JDR Engineering Integration Manager for the provision of industry knowledge and experience, and best practices in the decommissioning-management field and in compliance with applicable regulatory and legal requirements.

Accountabilities
  • To review / critique the JDR programme delivery strategy using their extensive industry knowledge, experience, and lessons learned from previous decommissioning programmes.
  • Provide guidance and advice on the JDR delivery strategy including the phasing and priorities afforded to projects within the decommissioning programme.
  • Provide support to develop the commercial strategies covering the Tier 1 and Tier 2 contracts while ensuring the correct delivery models are selected and appropriate tasks are incorporated into the schedule.
  • To evaluate and advise on the critical decisions that secure the benefits the programme is tasked to deliver.
  • Provide expert advice to help resolve obstacles to strategic delivery by assisting with the identification and employment of creative solutions to overcome them.
  • Work with the JDR Engineering Integration Manager to develop artifacts that define and communicate how the programme strategy will be delivered.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the structure of the commercial strategy, types, and packaging of Tier II contracts.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the packaging of worksites.
  • Role may be requested to provide advice and guidance to other client project teams if required.
  • Ensure that the project SHE culture and working practices are in alignment with the client requirements.
  • Ensure that the JDR decommissioning strategy and works comply with health and safety and environmental legislation.
  • Reach back to other team in the parent organisation to seek lessons learned and advice as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven leadership experience through a track record of success in delivering programmes to budget, time and cost within a Construction/Decommissioning environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make sound economic decisions that maximise project value.
  • Engineering/Project Management/Construction Management degree, equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Ability to manage highly complex, technical projects including demonstration of mitigating project and technical risks.
  • Experience of the delivery model assessment process, decision making criteria for insourcing/outsourcing services, and evaluating the results of a delivery model assessment.
  • Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders across JDR, the wider client organisation, and industry.
  • Experience of managing project financials - budget, forecasts, actuals and earned value.
  • Passion for ensuring good project management practices and culture.
  • A proactive approach to safety, with good appreciation of UK compliance requirements in design.
  • Experience of leading market engagement, procurement campaigns (including managing the preparation of tender and contract documentation) and contract management is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with modern standards in the areas of Safety, Health and Environment, and Quality Assurance.
  • Detailed knowledge of project controls systems.
  • Experience of project/decommissioning management systems.
  • Experience of industry standard information management systems deployed in the decommissioning industry.
  • Professional project management qualification.
  • Extensive experience of planning and delivering works "on-site" in compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Successful completion of CITB CDM for Principal Contractor training or equivalent.
