Position – Principal Electrical Services Engineer

Location – Plymouth

Travel – 2 /3 days in Devonport or Bristol Office

Arrangement - Contracted (Inside IR35) or Staff.

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferable.

Supporting one of our key clients we are looking for Principal Electrical Service Engineers to support the Dock readiness Projects of a nuclear licensed site. This will involve managing a small team, managing the designs of others, and reviewing the designs that are produced so that processes are properly, adequately, and efficiently implemented across the project.

Responsibilities of a Principal Electrical Engineer:

  • Preparing and/or checking designs, analysing reports, drawing and specifications.
  • Participate in the problem solving of technical solutions, deficiencies, and new design ideas.
  • Utilising Earned Value Management methodologies and respecting task durations.
  • Supervise and provide on-the-job guidance to the junior staff.
  • Maintaining a record of development to substantiate the skills achieved.
  • Communications of system capabilities to ensure overall operation concept is kept to a high standard.
  • Support the development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities to ensure that they comply with the design intent for the Nuclear related works, together with all relevant Local and National Regulations and Legislation.

Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered for this role in Principal Electrical Services Engineering you should have most of the following:

Essential requirements for a Principal Electrical Engineer:

  • Ideally degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent nuclear and/or marine system knowledge.
  • Sound understanding of company and departmental procedures relating to Health and Safety.
  • Must be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required of complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Provide expert advice to the sub-contracted design to enable them to develop the design.
  • A strong understanding of project specification, planning, project management and budgeting experience.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering office and computer applications.

Desirable:

  • Ideally chartered engineer, registered with Engineering Council or working towards chartership.
  • Design of electrical building services, to include fire detection and alarm systems, industrial and emergency lighting (PA) and (HVAC).
  • Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice.
