Position – Principal Electrical Services Engineer

Location – Plymouth

Travel 2/3 days in Devonport or Bristol

Office Arrangement Contracted (Inside IR35) or Staff.

NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is rapidly growing, offering hybrid opportunities across the country. We aim to build a multidisciplinary team to provide our clients with a broad spectrum of talent. BPSS clearance at basic level is required. Previous clearance will not be transferable.

Supporting a key client, we seek Principal Electrical Service Engineers for the Dock readiness Projects at a nuclear licensed site.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a small team, overseeing design work, and reviewing designs to ensure proper, adequate, and efficient implementation across the project.
  • Preparing and reviewing designs, analyzing reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Participating in problem-solving of technical solutions, deficiencies, and new design ideas.
  • Applying Earned Value Management methodologies and respecting task durations.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Maintaining development records to demonstrate skills progression.
  • Communicating system capabilities to ensure high standards in overall operation concepts.
  • Supporting development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities to meet design intent and comply with relevant regulations and legislation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates should meet most of the following criteria:

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent knowledge in nuclear/marine systems.
  • Understanding of company and departmental health and safety procedures.
  • Experience in complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Ability to advise subcontractors on design development.
  • Strong project specification, planning, management, and budgeting skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and applications.

Desirable:

  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartership with the Engineering Council.
  • Experience in designing electrical building services, including fire detection, alarm systems, industrial and emergency lighting, and HVAC.
  • Good understanding of engineering design and safety practices.
