We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with extensive knowledge and practical application of mechanical engineering within highly regulated industry sectors.
The Engineer is key in providing a design engineering service. The Engineer is responsible for the production of discipline specific design and engineering deliverables to support the project.
Reporting to
Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer or the Project Engineering Manager / Nominated Engineer depending on the complexity of the project assignment.
Key Accountabilities
As the Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification.
- Preparation of design deliverables throughout the design process.
- Checking of discipline specific design deliverables.
- Checking of design calculations.
- Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews.
- Preparation of technical specifications.
- Preparation of Installation, Commissioning, and Operating documents.
- Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process.
- Compliance with safety legislation and statutory regulations.
- Develop cost effective technical solutions.
- Staff development.
Essential for a Mechanical Engineer
- Knowledge of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in the role of design in highly regulated industry.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering design solutions.
- Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations.
- Proven track record within a project environment.
- Good level of commercial awareness.
- Experience in the nuclear industry.
- Management of design teams in the technical delivery of projects.
- Management of sub-contractors.
- Commissioning experience.

- Systems (e.g., Requirements Management and Interface Management) Engineering experience.
- Engineering Substantiation experience.
- Technical ability with regards to calculations, Risk Assessments, Hazard, and Operability (HAZOP) Studies etc.
- Technically competent at Client interface.
- Technical problem-solving ability (design process and approach to finding solutions).
- Able to take technical responsibility.
