Purpose of the job

As a member of the Industrial Services (IS) management team, leads and manages IS delivery and work winning for a nominated location/site or framework. Responsible for the execution of the IS delivery strategy for the nominated location/site or framework, including work winning and safe, secure, timely, cost-effective and best quality project delivery, meeting both the client's and Nuvia's business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • To report monthly on location/site or framework performance including safety, budget and time.
  • To review and approve tendering proposals or contract changes aligned to their delegated authority as per their appointment letter.
  • To coordinate tendering proposals or contract changes for the location/site or framework and include the appropriate governance as per NUVIA procedures CP0402, CP0401A and CP0905.
  • Responsible for work winning on the location/site or framework and following contract award ensuring safe, effective and profitable delivery.
  • To ensure projects are completed in compliance with the NUVIA Project Management Orchestra (PMO) and Quality Management System (QMS).
  • To coordinate resources at the nominated location/site or framework including Subcontractors to ensure that NUVIA commitments can be met to the satisfaction of client and in line with the IS delivery strategy.
  • To develop and coach all team members under their control.
  • To ensure that their team identifies and manages all areas of change associated with any IS project.
  • To govern delivery of all IS projects at their nominated location/site or framework.
  • To ensure compliance with Nuvia standards and procedures for Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) and Construction.
  • To ensure that the SHEQ incidents and good practice are captured via the NUVIA UNOR systems and associated client system.
  • To ensure the works being undertaken are carried out safely, complying with all appropriate legislation and company procedures.
  • To ensure that works being undertaken are executed to the required standards of quality and in compliance with the design intent.
  • Frequently engages with the Director – Industrial Services and finance representative to ensure accurate financial forecasts are provided in support of the overall IS strategy and performance.
  • Lead representative for the IS location/site or framework at the IS monthly management meeting with responsibility for presenting an update on operations and prospects.
  • Manage all personnel involved in the delivery of IS scope on the location/site or framework including Project Managers, Construction Managers, site Managers, Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyors, Planners, Supervisors, Engineers, Operatives and Subcontractors.
  • Communicates effectively to all parties involved in the delivery of IS scope on the location/site or framework.
  • Directs the IS team in implementation of the works.
  • Produces monthly reports covering (as a minimum) progress against budgets, safety, health & environment, expenditure, risks, mitigations, and opportunities.
  • Ensure anyone deployed on IS projects follow company QMS standards and procedures.
  • Ensure good communication and coordination with all NUVIA disciplines and Business Lines such as HP&S and Engineering in support of IS scope.
  • Communicate professionally, effectively, and clearly both verbally and in writing both internally within Nuvia and with other key stakeholders such as the client, subcontractors and regulators.
  • Responsible for Nuvia's relationship with client on the location/site or framework.
  • Responsible for undertaking Personal Development Reviews (PDR) with direct reports and for ensuring that development plans are reviewed and updated throughout the year.
  • Responsible for setting objectives that align with the IS strategy.
  • Ensuring that all personnel who are to work at the location/site or framework are Suitable Qualified or Experienced (SQEP).
  • Engagement with relevant unions at locations/sites.
  • Industrial relations engagement with personnel.
  • Working with commercial and finance team members to ensure timely invoicing and payments.

Occupational Skills and Knowledge

  • A qualification within either an engineering or related field.
  • Project Management related qualification.

Duties and Requirements

Essential:

  • An appropriate degree level or equivalent qualification (Level 6) relevant to the role scope.
  • Minimum 5 years within a highly regulated multi-discipline environment.
  • Member or Associate Member of a recognised institution (APM, CIOB, ICE, IStructE, IMechE etc).
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • A full UK driver's license.
  • Engineering or Project Management experience delivering different forms of contract.
  • Direct and demonstrable experience of involvement in the provision of Passive Fire Protection projects.
  • Knowledge of Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and duty holders responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of work winning and delivery.
  • Understanding of business profit and loss centres and financial reporting.
  • Proven track record within complex construction environments with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of contract models used frequently in the Nuclear industry (NEC, FIDIC, T&M etc).
  • Good understanding of project management tools and their appropriate utilisation.
  • Sub-contractor and management experience.
  • Excellent skills in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Leadership/People management skills, Stakeholder management, Communication skills at all levels across the business, Motivational and unfazed at working to tight deadlines. Client focused. Driving for results. Strategic Decision making. Acting commercially. Managing change and review. Developing yourself and others. Communicating and influencing. Managing your own safety and environment and the safety of others.

Desirable:

  • Chartered status in relevant discipline (where appropriate).
  • Level 6 NVQ in Construction Management gaining black CSCS managers card (black) or equivalent.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) or other relevant engineering institution.
  • Higher qualifications with business, construction and/or engineering theme.
