Overview of the Role
The successful candidate would be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with family offices across the UK, reporting to the Head of UK Wealth Distribution.
The role would provide an opportunity to offer a differentiated and relevant product set to the UK Family Office market centred around private assets. Nuveen has a tier 1 Alternatives platform that spans Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate, as well as differentiated asset classes such as Farmland and Timberland. Nuveen has significant scale across its Alternatives platform and is one of the largest Private Credit managers globally, through affiliates, Churchill and Arcmont and the 5th largest Real Estate manager globally. The firm has a long history of managing assets on behalf of private wealth clients and manages over $300bn of wealth assets in the US. Nuveen has been successful in raising capital from the UK family office market recently and would like to build on that success with a dedicated hire.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Working in close partnership with the Head of UK Wealth Distribution on sales strategy.
- Providing dedicated UK Family Office coverage, focused on driving growth primarily across private assets, in line with business priorities.
- Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the broad set of alternatives capabilities and their use case in client portfolios.
- Managing and developing existing client relationships.
- Working closely with investment teams to keep them abreast of client demand and pipeline.
- Collaborating with Swiss and Middle East sales teams regarding cross-border opportunities.
- Recording and maintaining all significant client contact, and managing pipeline updates, on Salesforce, ensuring that notes are captured accurately.
- Providing guidance and direction to Business Development Associates and Relationship Analysts.
- Actively contributing to team sales meetings, strategy planning, and development.
- Traveling within the UK to support the team’s distribution effort with key accounts, contributing to client events, roadshows, and education.
Qualifications / Skills / Qualities:
- Be highly self-motivated and excited about the prospect of building a business from the ground up.
- Good listener and strong team player.
- Have 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Have a demonstrable track record of successfully developing and managing a network of client relationships within the UK Family Office segment.
- Have the ability to speak fluently about private assets.
- Have the technical ability to sufficiently understand and solve client problems independently.
- Be action-oriented, accountable, committed, driven, and self-motivated, with excellent communication and team working skills.
- Have the ability to prioritize, focus, eliminate roadblocks, and execute a sales strategy in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and trust, and a client-centric focus.
- Have a strong academic background, including an undergraduate degree. A relevant professional qualification (e.g. IMC, CFA) or progress towards one is preferred.
