We are currently seeking a passionate, hands‑on Deputy Manager who is motivated to help both staff and young people thrive. We are currently preparing to open a new 3‑bed Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) home in Newcastle and are seeking an ambitious and committed Deputy Manager to play a key role from the very beginning. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the full start‑up journey, working alongside the Registered Manager to shape the culture, establish high standards of care, support with recruitment, and build a strong, values‑led team. You will contribute to developing systems, embedding therapeutic practice, and creating a safe, structured and nurturing environment where children can thrive from day one.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of the service in line with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.
- Plan and lead shifts, ensuring children’s needs, wishes and feelings are central to all decisions.
- Lead, motivate and inspire a dedicated care team.
- Contribute to care planning, audits and quality assurance processes to maintain high Ofsted standards.
- Participate in the on‑call manager rota and respond to out‑of‑hours calls as required.
- Create and maintain a safe, structured and nurturing home environment where young people can grow and succeed.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
About You
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children & Young People (or equivalent).
- Level 5 Diploma in Children, Young People & Families (or willingness to work towards).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in residential childcare.
- At least 1 year’s leadership or supervisory experience within a similar setting.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and confident leadership skills.
- Sound understanding of children’s emotional, social and educational needs.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to running a residential children’s home.
- Confidence in supervising and leading a team.
- Resilience, empathy and a genuine passion for empowering young people.

Experience & Requirements
