Responsible for the development, continuous improvement, and implementation of policies, standards, and processes to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations for the safety, quality, and integrity of products produced in the companion animal premix factory in Ashbourne (UK).
Contributes to continuous improvement of quality performance by working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Marketing & Sales. Collaborates with the Quality Manager and Customers to ensure effective quality organization and communication, fostering a quality culture where everyone understands their role in quality performance.
Job Description
The Companion Animal Quality Operations Manager reports directly to the Regional Quality Manager and oversees local quality management systems to meet all internal and external quality and feed/food safety requirements. Responsible for governance of quality standards, training, internal audits, and KPI monitoring. Acts as an expert in Quality Management and Food to Feed Safety, with strong communication and training skills to promote a quality-centric culture.
Works alongside the Quality Manager, Customer Companion Animal, Regional Quality Manager, Operations, Technical, and Commercial teams to ensure customer satisfaction. Leads a team of two Quality Officers and participates in global quality networks.
Key Accountabilities
- Implement quality strategies aligned with operational landscape.
- Develop and execute quality plans based on business priorities.
- Serve as the contact for factory performance related to Companion Animal Quality.
- Maintain compliance with FSSC22000 and Nutrace standards.
- Develop, improve, and implement policies, standards, and processes to ensure product safety, quality, and integrity.
- Develop and implement customer and product-specific requirements, including qualification processes.
- Create training materials and conduct quality management training.
- Enhance communication and awareness of Nutrace quality management internally and externally.
- Provide expertise in Feed to Food safety and quality, supporting projects and incident management.
- Develop and promote a risk-based thinking approach and a quality mindset within operations.
Quality Performance
- Improve operational quality performance through collaboration with various functions.
- Develop KPIs to monitor quality performance.
- Conduct compliance assessments and close identified gaps.
- Manage HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP risk assessments.
- Plan and execute monitoring, audits, and inspections, ensuring closure of gaps.
- Analyze quality data for release decisions and continuous improvement.
- Ensure timely analytical services meeting organizational standards.
In Cooperation with the Quality Manager, Customer Companion Animal
- Manage non-conformance and complaints, including root cause analysis and CAPA.
- Create and maintain QMS operational procedures.
- Conduct management reviews of the quality management system.
- Support manufacturing and verification trials.
- Contribute to change management as a key quality stakeholder.
Organization
- Develop and implement an effective quality organization for the Companion Animal Plant.
- Manage the quality officer team and QC resources, overseeing performance management.
