The Truck Driver transports and delivers goods (bulk and general cargo), both raw materials and finished goods (from supplier to business, business site to business site, and business to customer) according to data on the shipping documents to ensure timely, efficient, and safe transport and delivery.
Documentation:
- Receives documents, materials, and oral instructions from supervisor or expedition planner.
- Checks documents for the correctness of required data for the drive.
- Checks documents for customer ambiguities and reports anomalies to the expedition planner or manager.
- Submits documents and materials (bills / return forms, trip reports, vehicle registration, etc.) to the expedition planner or manager.
Transport:
- Loads the truck / supervises loading by warehouse staff according to data in the documents.
- Checks cargo packing for quality and reports abnormalities to supervisor.
- Transports goods by truck, combination, or trailer, considering truck properties and local traffic conditions.
- Delivers goods within specified times to domestic and international customers.
- Unloads the truck or oversees unloading at designated locations, possibly with a forklift, considering customer requirements.
- Returns goods from customers and other sites.
- Unloads raw materials, packaging, pallets, containers, and returns to appropriate locations.
Maintenance:
- Ensures vehicle availability, plans regular maintenance, and reports serious issues.
- Checks engine operation and truck condition (oil levels, lights, etc.).
- Performs daily cleaning, maintenance, and fuel management; ensures trucks are clean and empty before loading.
- Detects and repairs minor faults or arranges repairs with the garage through the supervisor.
Safety and Regulations:
- Follows all safety and traffic regulations to ensure safety of goods, traffic, and self.
- Maintains and files trip reports (fuel, delivery times, visits, damage, etc.).
- Handles tachograph discs and regulatory equipment according to regulations.
