We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and conscientious School Business Manager (SBM) to join the Senior Leadership Team at Nutfield Church (C of E) Primary School. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will provide the strategic and operational framework that allows our teaching staff to focus on delivering high-quality education. You will lead the school's business functions, ensuring we make the best possible use of resources through effective financial planning and value-for-money procurement. This is a broad, high-level role encompassing finance, HR, estates, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Work alongside the Headteacher and Governors to develop business strategies and influence decision‑making at a senior level.
- Financial Management: Oversee a budget of approximately £1.2m, managing revenue and capital funds, financial benchmarking, and audit requirements.
- HR & Operations Oversight: Oversee the school's HR functions and payroll provision, ensuring compliance with employment law and safer recruitment practices.
- Service Coordination: Lead and review the administration and estates functions to ensure systems are streamlined and meet the operational needs of the school.
- Contract & Provider Management: Manage external service providers and contracts (such as IT, catering, and cleaning) to ensure value for money and high‑quality delivery.
- Estate & Operations: Lead the estate management service, including property maintenance, health and safety, and procurement of contract.
- Compliance & IT: Act as the school's Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Health & Safety Lead, while overseeing the school's IT strategy and administrative networks.
- Income Generation: Identify and secure additional funding and oversee the marketing of the school and the letting of premises.
The Successful Candidate
While we have a preference for candidates with experience in a school environment or existing SBMs, we also welcome applications from highly organised professionals with proven management experience in a business environment.
