Eaton Burton on the Wolds is a key strategic location within Eaton’s EMEA structure, reporting directly into our regional leadership team in Germany. The site is home to a high‑performing product line specialising in advanced fusing and switching solutions used across a wide range of critical applications. What you’ll do:

Senior Design Engineer – Switch Disconnector Product Range

This is a key technical leadership role within our switching portfolio, driving innovation, product excellence, and continuous improvement across a strategically important product range. You’ll take ownership of new product development, lifecycle management, and value‑engineering initiatives, working at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and global engineering functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end‑to‑end design projects for new switching products and enhancements to the existing portfolio, including 3D modelling, detailed engineering drawings, and complex product assemblies.
  • Provide technical direction to engineers and cross‑functional teams both locally and internationally, collaborating closely with Simulation, Data Management, Technical Support, Product Management, and other specialist groups.
  • Partner with the manufacturing plant to ensure designs are production‑ready, support industrialisation activities, and resolve technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Own all supporting engineering documentation, including FMEAs, technical files, and Engineering Change Notices, ensuring compliance and robust design governance.
  • Develop and execute test plans aligned to relevant standards, working with internal and external laboratories to validate performance and reliability.
  • Drive innovation and intellectual property creation, contributing to the long‑term competitiveness and differentiation of the product range.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree (electrical/mechanical/mechatronic)
  • 4+ years in design/development of industrial products

Skills:

  • 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), project management. Ideally some knowledge of electrical products but not essential.
  • Problem solving, team player, self-motivated.
