About the Team

This role is a pivotal part of our Legal team, helping Eightfold advance regulatory affairs and public policies related to AI. It will spend significant time monitoring and engaging internal and external audiences on privacy and AI regulatory development, supporting compliance with current and future regulations, and preparing related documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the role is front‑row in shaping AI policy and governance.

About the Role

  • Proactively monitor worldwide privacy and AI regulatory landscape and translate developments into actionable product guidance.
  • Build and operationalize privacy and AI governance frameworks and policies that enable innovation while managing risk.
  • Lead compliance readiness for emerging AI regulations (including the EU AI Act) in a practical, scalable, and product‑aligned manner.
  • Advise on AI system design decisions, including model usage, training data, outputs, user‑facing functionality, and responsible AI development.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Security to implement privacy‑by‑design and safety‑by‑design patterns.
  • Support compliance review and audits of Eightfold’s products and responsible AI practices.
  • Conduct privacy and AI impact assessments, build and maintain data mapping, records of processing activities, and vendor diligence processes.
  • Develop internal, customer‑facing, and public‑facing materials to communicate Eightfold’s positions on new AI laws.
  • Support Commercial Legal, Sales, Customer Success, and other teams on customer/partner conversations and inquiries on privacy and AI compliance topics, including negotiation of AI‑related obligations.
  • Support Responsible AI/Ethical AI efforts, including working with internal personnel and external auditors on AI risk assessments and governance at Eightfold.
  • Provide product counseling to ensure compliance with AI laws and promote responsible/ethical AI development.

Qualifications

  • JD degree and active state bar membership; CIPP/CIPM certifications an advantage.
  • 8–12 years of relevant legal experience, with substantial privacy and AI experience.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on AI, data, and privacy, including the EU AI Act and U.S. state AI regulations.
  • Record of customer success, supporting customers and partners on complex regulatory topics.
  • Curiosity and passion for Eightfold’s products and services and comfort operating at a technical depth with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Strong and concise writing and communication skills.
  • Experience in fast‑paced environments where speed, judgment, and ownership matter.

Location

This role can be based from our London office as a hybrid role, or in Ireland or Germany as a remote role.
