What will you be doing?
As a CID Case Officer, you’ll work closely with investigating officers to help build strong, accurate and court-ready case files. Your responsibilities will include:
- Gathering and managing digital, audio and visual evidence.
- Building, updating and maintaining case files and records.
- Preparing and submitting files to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
- Completing file upgrades and making sure deadlines are met.
- Requesting and reviewing information from third parties and external agencies.
- Supporting post-charge actions and helping to progress investigations.
- Managing evidence and exhibits and ensuring continuity is maintained.
- Supporting disclosure requirements in line with CPIA legislation.
- Working closely with Evidence Review Officers and investigating officers.
- Liaising with other police forces and external organisations.
- Attending court when required to support officers and prosecutors.
- Keeping victims and witnesses at the heart of the process and ensuring they receive appropriate support and updates.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, organised and able to work under pressure, with excellent attention to detail.
You’ll need to be comfortable handling confidential and sometimes distressing information, while maintaining a professional and sensitive approach. Good communication skills are essential, as you’ll be working with a range of colleagues, police officers and external organisations.
Previous experience in case management, investigations, evidence handling, criminal justice or a similar environment would be beneficial, but most importantly, you’ll need the right attitude and a genuine desire to support effective investigations and public service.
