Nusku is leading the energy transition with a revolutionary new heating system that enables a seamless shift away from gas boilers to a more affordable and greener solution.
Our mission is to reduce the carbon emissions associated with heating the UK’s approximately 29 million households, while reshaping how people think about home heating.
We are driven by innovation and long-term sustainability, developing products that are efficient, reliable and accessible.
By bringing breakthrough technology into everyday homes, we aim to improve comfort for our customers, lower energy costs, and accelerate the UK’s journey to net zero.
Who you are
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who is motivated by purpose and inspired by impact.
You see challenges as opportunities and enjoy shaping how ideas evolve into products that can be manufactured at scale.
You thrive at the intersection of creativity and practical engineering: comfortable developing new concepts, but equally motivated to turn those ideas into detailed, manufacturable designs.
You enjoy working hands-on with prototypes, testing your designs and using the results to make them better.
Curious, collaborative and analytical, you take satisfaction in solving problems and seeing them through to real-world application.
Most importantly, you want your engineering skills to contribute to a mission that matters — building a greener future.
What the job involves
As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing the next generation of Nusku’s heating systems. Responsibilities include:
- Generating and developing design concepts for mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Creating and maintaining 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings, applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) where appropriate.
- Developing and building prototypes to validate designs and using test results to inform design improvements.
- Developing test methods and supporting product commissioning, testing and performance analysis.
- Working closely with manufacturing and procurement to ensure a Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFM/DFA) approach.
- Carrying out tolerance analysis and supporting FMEA and product validation activities.
- Supporting the selection of materials, components and manufacturing processes.
- Producing clear engineering documentation and supporting product compliance activities.
- How we work
We are a committed team, driven to improve the heat pump experience for our customers and reduce the carbon emissions of home heating.
We expect you to share these values and contribute to this mission.
This is a predominantly site-based role in Bristol, working closely with the wider engineering team and developing physical products through design, build and test.
Flexible home working is available when appropriate, balancing lifestyle needs with business and product development requirements.
