We are looking for an experienced Application Analyst (Technical) to join an application modernisation programme focused on the assessment, discovery and transformation of legacy applications into modern .
NET solutions, deployed across Azure and Open Shift/container platforms.
This is a hands-on technical discovery and assessment role, working closely with application owners, business stakeholders, architects, developers, Dev Ops and infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical discovery and assessment of legacy applications.
- Analyse applications developed using Excel/VBA, MS Access, VB/VB6 and/or Power Builder.
- Document application functionality, architecture, interfaces, data flows and dependencies.
- Work with application owners and business users to understand business processes, usage and criticality.
- Identify technical debt, risks, dependencies and modernisation challenges.
- Gather and document functional and technical requirements.
- Assess modernisation options including re-engineering, re-platforming, replacement, consolidation or retirement.
- Support the definition of modernisation solutions using .
NET, Azure and/or Open Shift.
- Produce clear application assessment reports, technical documentation and modernisation recommendations.
- Work alongside architects, developers and Dev Ops teams to support migration, testing and deployment.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience as an Application Analyst, Technical Analyst, Application Consultant or similar.
- Strong experience in application discovery, technical assessment and legacy application modernisation.
- Hands-on experience assessing one or more of: Excel/VBA, MS Access, VB/VB6 or Power Builder.
- Good understanding of .
NET application modernisation.
- Understanding of Azure and/or Open Shift/container platforms.
- Strong knowledge of application architecture, APIs, databases, integrations and dependencies.
- Excellent analytical, requirements-gathering and problem-solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical findings into clear business requirements and recommendations.
