The Role

As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the purchase ledger and wider finance activities. Working as part of a close-knit finance team, you will ensure financial information is processed accurately and efficiently while building strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

No two days are the same, and you will have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of accounting and finance tasks while developing your knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing and coding supplier invoices accurately into Sage 200
  • Managing supplier accounts and maintaining accurate records
  • Processing supplier payment runs and issuing remittance advice
  • Managing invoice queries and liaising with suppliers to resolve issues
  • Monitoring and reconciling supplier statements
  • Reviewing aged creditor reports and identifying discrepancies
  • Processing employee expenses and company payments
  • Reconciling company credit cards and PayPal accounts
  • Maintaining prepayments, accruals, and fixed asset records
  • Supporting month-end and year-end finance processes
  • Assisting with annual audit requirements
  • Providing general finance and administrative support as required

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has excellent attention to detail, and takes pride in producing accurate work. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Purchase Ledger, or Finance Administration role
  • A good understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Experience using accounting software (Sage 200 experience would be advantageous)
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A proactive and organised approach to work
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team
