About the Home

Avon Search is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming, family-run residential care home in Broadstone, Dorset, for a dedicated and compassionate Care Assistant.

Set within a beautiful Victorian house surrounded by mature grounds in a peaceful residential area, this charming care home provides a warm, friendly environment for 17 residents, with accommodation across 17 single rooms.

The home has a longstanding reputation for providing quality care to older people, with a strong emphasis on compassion, dignity, respect and individual wellbeing. Its family-centred approach creates a genuine sense of community, ensuring residents feel valued, comfortable and truly at home.

The Role

As a Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting residents with their daily routines, promoting their independence and ensuring they receive the highest standards of person-centred care.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will help create a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment where residents feel respected and valued.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing personal care and support with daily living activities.
  • Assisting residents with washing, dressing, bathing and grooming.
  • Supporting residents with mobility and transferring safely.
  • Assisting with mealtimes and encouraging good nutrition and hydration.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with residents and their families.
  • Promoting residents' dignity, privacy, independence and individual choices.
  • Supporting residents' emotional and social wellbeing.
  • Following individual care plans and reporting any changes in residents' needs.
  • Maintaining accurate care records and following health and safety procedures.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment.

Working Pattern

This is a full-time position, with opportunities to work either days or nights.

The successful candidate will join a friendly team dedicated to providing consistent, compassionate care to the residents.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Care Assistant within a residential care home or similar setting.
  • A caring, patient and compassionate nature.
  • A genuine passion for supporting older people.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A respectful approach to residents' privacy, dignity and independence.
  • A reliable, flexible and positive attitude.
  • A willingness to undertake training and develop your care skills.

Previous care experience is beneficial, but a positive attitude, empathy and a genuine desire to make a difference are equally important.
