Are you an experienced Sonographer looking to take your specialist skills into a role where what you do genuinely matters to patients? We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist women’s healthcare provider for an experienced Specialist Sonographer to join their multidisciplinary clinical team. This is more than simply performing scans. You’ll play a key role throughout a patient’s fertility journey, using your expertise to support diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing monitoring. From follicular tracking and ovarian reserve assessments through to early pregnancy and gynaecological scans, your clinical judgement, accuracy and compassion will have a direct impact on patient care.
The Role
- Delivering a comprehensive ultrasound service, including:
- Performing transvaginal, transabdominal and Doppler ultrasound examinations
- Carrying out fertility monitoring, follicular tracking, ovarian reserve, endometrial and pelvic assessments
- Performing gynaecological and early pregnancy scans, including 3D and wellbeing scanning
- Accurately interpreting and reporting findings to support clinical decision-making
- Monitoring patients throughout fertility treatment cycles and escalating clinical, wellbeing or safeguarding concerns where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate patient records and producing timely ultrasound reports
- Contributing to clinical audit, quality assurance, incident reporting and service improvement
- Supporting ultrasound equipment management and reporting faults or maintenance requirements
- Contributing to the development of SOPs, competency frameworks and best-practice standards
You’ll work closely with a wider multidisciplinary team, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining advanced clinical practice with genuine patient interaction.
What We’re Looking For
- A Postgraduate Certificate in Obstetrics and/or Gynaecology Ultrasound
- At least 3 years' post-graduate experience
- Valid registration with NMC, HCPC or a recognised Voluntary Register for Sonographers
- Strong experience in obstetric scanning, including 3D, wellbeing, prenatal and early pregnancy scanning
- Experience in gynaecological scanning
- Experience working within a fertility or reproductive healthcare setting
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and counselling skills
- A patient-centred approach and the ability to make patients feel comfortable and supported
- The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable experience includes:
- Advanced fertility ultrasound scanning
- Clinical audit, quality improvement or service development
- Mentoring or supporting junior clinical staff
