Senior Registered Nurse to join their established inpatient ward team in Crowborough.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse with a background in orthopaedic or surgical care to take on a senior clinical role within a close-knit, high-performing team.
You will act as a clinical role model, mentor and leader while supporting the Ward Manager and wider nursing team in delivering exceptional standards of patient care.
The role involves shift-based working, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care throughout the patient journey, ensuring safe and effective clinical outcomes.
- Lead the clinical team on shift, managing workloads, delegation and prioritisation to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
- Deputise for the Ward Manager when required and take responsibility for the smooth running of shifts.
- Support, supervise and mentor junior nurses and student nurses, creating a positive learning environment.
- Provide clinical support for patients with complex needs, including appropriate escalation and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with professional and clinical standards.
- Contribute to clinical audits, incident reviews, quality improvement initiatives and the development of policies and care pathways.
- Promote effective infection prevention, safeguarding, risk management and governance practices.
- Support ongoing service development and evidence-based improvements to clinical practice.
- Maintain professional accountability in line with the NMC Code and contribute to a safe, positive and patient-focused working environment.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse with strong clinical knowledge and the confidence to lead a team.
You will have
- NMC Registered Nurse (RGN) qualification with at least 2 years' post-registration experience.
- Previous orthopaedic or surgical nursing experience is essential.
- Recognised mentorship/Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor qualification or equivalent.
- Experience leading a clinical team, managing workloads and coordinating shift operations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with a commitment to continued professional development.
- A compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
- The flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
- A strong commitment to clinical excellence, governance and maintaining high standards of patient care.
