Administrator and Health Care Support Worker

The post holder will work to provide the highest standards of patient care and perform competencies as required as a Receptionist/ Administrator/health care support worker. The successful applicant must be prepared to travel throughout all of our clinics across Northwest. You will be required to work 4 shifts per week Monday to Saturday 9.5 hours per day on a fix term contract of 1 year to deliver a supportive and non-judgemental service to patients and their supporters attending NUPAS clinics. Co-ordinating the patient pathway throughout the patients time during the clinic. The applicant will undertake and achieve training specific to the role, including the care certificate and will support with relevant clinical procedures once appropriate training has been provided.

Main duties of the job

Assist colleagues during the sensitive examination and treatment of patients within the department, treating them with respect and always promoting their dignity and comfort.

Chaperone as required with procedures, recognising when patients condition deteriorates and escalating as required.

Work in a caring, professional, and co-operative way with patients, their significant others, and colleagues.

Undertake pregnancy tests and record results as required.

Stock clinical areas and maintain the clinical/administrative environment to a high standard.

Order and receive stock as necessary.

Ensure infection prevention policies are always adhered to.

Respect the confidentiality of information both on and off duty.

To understand the principles of confidentiality, effective verbal and written communication and the recording of appropriate documentation.

Theatre support as required.

Deliver a consistent, patient centred, caring service.

Ensure all patient case notes are processed in a consistent and timely fashion in line with monthly invoicing requirements.

Liaise with clinical and medical staff regarding patient and medical queries.

Co-ordinate patient treatment pathway throughout time in the clinic.

Co-ordinate and facilitate the delivery of patient prescriptions and legal documents.

Prepare and complete Patient notes.

Remote Administrator Duties.

Referrals to external providers or NHS Hospitals.

Undertake cashiering duties.

Job responsibilities

Clinical

Identify and escalate any risk or safeguarding concerns to senior colleagues and actively seek to reduce or eliminate those concerns identified in a positive manner.

To ensure clinical areas are set up, stock is unpacked and rotated.

To support in the cleaning-up / restocking of work areas after use.

To undertake relevant training in medications management and unpack medications to storage facility/Handle medications as appropriate/in line with standard operation procedures.

To include wiping down all surfaces at the end of each shift or session, as the need arises.

Potential contact with bodily fluids.

Handle blood samples in accordance with safe working practices.

Undertake duties in accordance with safe working practices relating to COSHH, wear appropriate PPE.

Ensure hazardous waste is disposed of in accordance with Company procedures.

Carry out duties in accordance with Health and Safety policy.

Service Delivery

Deliver a consistent, patient-centred, caring, confidential and professional reception and administration service ensuring patient and service needs are met.

Person Specification

Specific requirements

  • Must be willing to have Hepatitis B vaccinations if dont already
  • have immunity.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE Grade A-C, NVQ2) in a Health-related subject or Business Administration Or a good standard of general education to GCSE level. Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment. Support a woman's right to request an abortion.
  • Care certificate.

Experience

  • Recent reception and general clerical work experience or recent Healthcare Assistant experience. Identify and escalate any risk or safeguarding concerns to senior colleagues and actively seek to reduce or eliminate those concerns identified in a positive manner. To embrace safeguarding mechanisms and support staff, patients and supporters at times when safeguarding principles need to be applied. Experience of communicating effectively with people in various situations. Understanding of the Data Protection Act and code of confidentiality. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook. Ability to challenge poor behaviour Role modelling good behaviour. A positive attitude and able to act on feedback. Ability to praise and be supportive to others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats. Good interpersonal skills.
