The Opportunity:

Traditional insurance reacts to accidents after they happen. This fast-growing scale-up is changing the narrative by using real-time, data-driven insights to prevent them entirely. Nearing one billion connected, insured miles and backed by over £50M in funding, they are building the definitive insurance platform for the next generation of connected and autonomous vehicle fleets. • Write and review high-quality, well-tested TypeScript code within an API-driven ecosystem.
  • Evolve a modern cloud architecture utilizing AWS serverless technologies and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Act as a force multiplier by coaching engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and architectural discussions.
  • Champion developer experience by continuously improving CI/CD, observability, and release practices.
  • Empower team members to lead individual projects, guiding their technical thinking rather than dictating solutions.
  • Champion pragmatic technical decisions that balance robust architecture with business velocity.

What They’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience co-leading an engineering team to successful delivery outcomes in partnership with product stakeholders.
  • Deep technical expertise in TypeScript with a track record of shipping well-tested code to production.
  • Strong production experience with AWS environments and modern serverless architectures.
  • A mentorship mindset, with a history of raising engineering standards through collaborative design and code reviews.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clarify complex technical problems for non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience designing event-driven distributed systems and navigating the realities of eventual consistency.
  • Familiarity with modern Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
  • Experience aligning technical direction across multiple teams or broader engineering communities.
  • Background working within a fast-moving, product-led scale-up environment.
