The Role
As Product Design Director at Numan, you will play a key role in building and developing the Product Design organisation to meaningfully impact our users’ lives. You will build, manage, coach, and upskill a team of exceptional designers, researchers, and content professionals to shape and deliver patient-centred solutions. You’ll ensure all aspects of our platform are intuitive, supportive, and impactful in driving user- and commercial-centric value.
Your designers will work within cross-functional teams to solve meaningful patient problems while playing a central role in both strategic vision and execution. You’ll champion design excellence, consistency, and continuous innovation while establishing reusable, scalable design systems to make experiences for patients and internal users delightful at all times.
You’ll be:
- Defining and leading the design strategy at Numan, ensuring alignment with our mission, vision, and operating principles.
- Setting and communicating a unified design vision, fostering alignment across teams and ensuring a consistent, high-quality user experience.
- Collaborating with Product and Engineering leadership to integrate design into strategic planning and organisational priorities.
- Championing bold, innovative design ideas that elevate patient experiences while ensuring safety, accessibility, and compliance.
- Leading design discovery efforts to deeply understand patient needs, behaviours, and pain points through techniques such as user interviews, journey mapping, and usability testing.
- Translating research insights into actionable design strategies that inform product development and business decisions.
- Promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement by leveraging patient feedback, market insights, and competitive analysis.
- Guiding the creation of high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and specifications, ensuring seamless handoff to engineering teams.
- Overseeing the evolution and application of Numan’s design system to ensure scalability, consistency, and efficiency across teams.
- Partnering with cross-functional leaders (Product, Clinical, Engineering, Commercial) to deliver cohesive and impactful patient solutions.
- Acting as a mentor and coach to design team members, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and excellence.
- Championing design thinking and patient-centricity across the organisation, influencing strategic decisions and fostering alignment.
- Defining and tracking measurements of success and impact of design initiatives, using data to refine and iterate on solutions.
- Ensuring that design outcomes contribute to measurable patient health improvements, business growth, and operational efficiency.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience as a manager of Product Designers in digital product environments, ideally in healthcare or regulated industries.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in delivering scalable, user-centred design solutions that balance usability, business goals, and innovation.
- Inspirational leadership of top-tier design talent, with the ability to mentor and manage individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Expertise in interaction design, visual design, and information architecture.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to help your team translate insights into actionable designs.
