The role

We are looking for an experienced, product-driven Senior Android Engineer to join our ambitious and growing team. In this role, you will help shape the next generation of Numan's digital health products, influencing both the technical direction and product experience. You will work in a fast-moving, collaborative environment alongside talented engineers, designers, and product leaders, with a direct impact on shaping the future of the company.

You’ll be:

  • Owning significant parts of the Android architecture, building scalable, maintainable, and high-performing solutions.
  • Leading the design and development of complex features across the Numan app ecosystem, delivering high-quality, user-focused experiences.
  • Owning significant parts of the Backend-For-Frontend (BFF) application used by the mobile Numan apps.
  • Collaborating closely with product, design, and clinical team members to shape solutions and provide input on technical trade-offs.
  • Contributing to technical decisions around technologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Championing code quality through thorough reviews, automated testing, and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers, helping them grow their technical skills and adopt best practices.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about building high-quality Android experiences that genuinely improve people's lives.
  • Thrives in fast-moving, high-impact environments and takes ownership from conception to delivery.
  • Has a track record of delivering production-grade Android apps to the Play Store, with experience in scaling apps and handling complex architectures.
  • Has strong experience with Kotlin and the Android ecosystem, including modern frameworks and libraries, design patterns, and performance optimization.
  • Has experience with BFF systems.
  • Has a proactive approach and knowledge of best practices in code, testing, and app performance, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Is used to working in agile teams, with strong problem-solving abilities and a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Has excellent attention to detail - both in code quality and user experience.

It’s a bonus if you have:

  • Experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • A familiarity with CI/CD tools, automated testing or performance optimisation.
  • Experience in Python.
  • Worked in either a health tech or regulated environment.

Our benefits include...

  • Share options.
  • 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays (increasing to 30 the longer you stay with Numan).
  • Health insurance with Vitality.
  • Enhanced maternity and parental leave.
  • Nursery benefit provided by YellowNest.
  • Employee assistance programme (access to therapy, financial planning and discounts).
  • Generous pension (includes both employee and employer contributions).
  • Flexible working options, including a dog-friendly office in Farringdon.
  • Personal training and development budget via Learnerbly.
  • Wellhub membership, giving you access to over 2,000 locations in the UK.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Season ticket loan.
  • Discount on Numan products for your friends and family.
  • Paid volunteering days.
  • An additional 2 weeks off once you reach your 5th anniversary with Numan.
