The role
We’re seeking a Clinical Governance Lead to join Numan’s Clinical Operations Team, ensuring our services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with the highest governance standards. In this role, you’ll sit at the heart of clinical safety and quality, embedding robust governance infrastructure, overseeing audits, managing incidents and safeguarding, and maintaining regulatory compliance, including CQC readiness. You’ll act as a trusted escalation point for complex clinical and operational issues, supporting teams to deliver consistently high-quality care, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring alignment across clinical operations, leadership, and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of clinical governance systems, including SOPs, audit plans, escalation processes, and governance meeting structures.
- Owning the clinical risk framework, maintaining the risk register, escalating emerging or unmitigated risks and ensuring clear mitigation plans.
- Chairing governance meetings, ensuring decisions are documented, actions are followed up on, and key metrics and risks are reviewed.
- Collaborating with external clinical partners to maintain governance standards across third-party services.
- Driving incident management and learning, holding operational teams accountable for investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions.
- Supporting complaints management, including investigation of complex cases and contributing to transparent, timely, and fair resolutions.
- Leading the clinical audit and quality improvement programme, ensuring outcomes are actioned and continuous improvement is embedded.
- Defining and maintaining clinical escalation processes, ensuring operational teams are trained, confident, and consistent in escalation practice.
- Acting as the safeguarding lead, maintaining training, creating Safeguarding Champions, liaising with external authorities, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance and inspection readiness, including mock inspections, CQC preparation, and acting as the CQC Nominated Individual.
- Providing visible leadership and strategic guidance to Clinical Operations Leads, Product, Governance, and Legal teams on governance, safety, and regulatory matters.
Qualifications
- Designed, implemented, and maintained clinical governance frameworks within operational teams.
- Led clinical risk management, including managing risk registers, mitigation plans, and escalation of safety concerns.
- Overseen audits, incident investigations, and quality improvement programmes in a healthcare setting.
- Managed safeguarding responsibilities and promoted a culture of patient safety across teams.
- Ensured regulatory compliance, including CQC preparedness, inspection readiness, and responses to regulatory enquiries.
- Collaborated with operational, clinical, and product teams to translate governance requirements into practical operational processes.
- Worked with external clinical partners to maintain service quality and governance standards.
