Description of the assignmentSenior Structural Engineers are responsible for the day‑to‑day development of the design through the design process. The role is hands‑on analysis and design within the Civil & Structural department and generally includes interfacing with other engineering disciplines. The Senior Structural Engineer also shares managerial responsibility for graduates, apprentices, and/or designers in the team as required.
Applicants should demonstrate delivery beyond a Design Engineer.
Profile Key Accountabilities- Preparation of design documentation throughout the design process
- Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications
- Prepare supporting design calculations
- Preparation of technical specifications
- Preparation of risk assessments, technical files and other documentation required by safety legislation and procedures
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of structures and foundations in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel
- Design experience in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel
- Knowledge and understanding of structural steel connections and connection types
- Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- A strong team player
- Nuclear experience or experience from within a highly regulated industry
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel with overnight stays as required
- Experience of supervision
- A recognised Engineering Certificate such as HNC / HND / Degree
