We have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Manager to join the team within our Secure Children's Home (Marydale Lodge) based in St Helens.

Role details include:

  • Salary: £43,305.41 - £45,614.18
  • Hours of work: 38 hours per week
  • Location of role: St Catherines Blackbrook, St Helens.

The Role:

In consultation with the Head of Secure Children's Care, the Deputy Manager will assist in managing the overall day-to-day operations of Marydale Lodge. This will include leadership, staff support, maintaining safety and security, and decision making within the boundaries of delegated authority and in line with the policies and procedures of Nugent.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Manager: Assisting with day-to-day operations, delegating tasks, and ensuring smooth workflows.
  • Strategic Planning: Contributing to and implementing strategic plans, and making informed decisions.
  • Team Management: Supervising and coordinating team activities, motivating staff, and ensuring high standards of performance.
  • Administrative Duties: Handling administrative tasks, preparing reports, and maintaining records.
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving issues, and implementing solutions.
  • Communication: Effectively communicating with staff, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Decision-Making: Making sound decisions, even in the absence of the manager.
  • Compliance: Ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulations.

The Successful Applicant:

  • Will be able to demonstrate their ability to showcase our core values in their work with the young people, treating everybody with dignity and showing courage in the face of challenging behaviour.
  • Hold a Level 3 Diploma for residential childcare (or equivalent)
  • Have understanding of policies and regulations which ensure safe running of secure Children's home
  • Demonstrate a commitment to support and care for vulnerable and traumatised young people
  • Demonstrate consistent, supportive and reliable leadership throughout the team
  • Engage in good child care practice
  • Recognise and set limits of behaviour and provide controls to traumatised and vulnerable young people
  • Handle emotional and physical conflict.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to crisis situations and to use initiative
  • Understand the needs of children and young people
  • Understand the stages of child development, attachment and impact of trauma
