We're looking for a Housekeeping Head of Department to supervise and support our cleaning team, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and service for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Bringing strong communication and leadership skills, you'll manage rotas, oversee stock control, and prioritise workloads effectively.

With good IT and customer service skills, as well as an eye for detail, you'll also play a hands‑on role in daily housekeeping duties, helping to create a welcoming and safe environment.

  • Housekeeping Head of Department - Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all cleaning products and equipment are used safely and effectively, adhering to health and safety procedures while meeting service deadlines.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, ensuring the team has the necessary resources to deliver consistently high standards.
  • Oversee core administrative duties, including rota planning, scheduling, stock control, audits, and maintaining accurate training records.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting and resolving issues related to work areas or equipment, working closely with management to implement effective solutions and manage complaints.
  • Maintain a safe, hygienic environment by ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations and audit requirements.
  • Provide daily supervision to the housekeeping team, including task scheduling, inductions, staff development and training, and managing leave and absences.
  • Ensure all work is completed efficiently, to a high standard, and in accordance with infection prevention policies and established procedures.
  • Reporting to the Facilities Manager.
  • Housekeeping Head of Department - Essential Requirements
  • SVQ/NVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a supervisory & management of housekeeping or domestic services role within a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Self‑motivated with strong organisational skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of service efficiency.
  • Confident using data systems and computer applications.
  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks involving frequent, moderate physical effort throughout each shift.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and support staff effectively.
  • Required to support multi shift structure, including unsociable and weekends as the business requires.
